Many events from the past can be reflected to the present even in the near future. Then from these events that have occurred even thousands of years ago can create stories, myths, and legend. And from them they give lessons. It is up to us to learn from these lessons to prepare ourselves but it is our choice if we want to follow these lessons just hope that we don't repeat the wrongs of the past. One of my favorites is from the novel "The Crucible". It takes place in Salem in the 17th century during the time of Puritanism. When the people were very religious. In "The Crucible" people were executed for the paranoid suspicions of witchcraft. 19 men and women were killed due to these suspicions.
In the novel I picked a few statements relating to "The Crucible". The first one says "A person is innocent until proven guilty". This goes with the novel because in the novel a bunch a girls made lies about people doing witchcraft. Especially when the girls blamed Tituba of witchcraft. And from the paranoia of the people they decide to instantly believe the girls than rather the accused. So in this case if the person is innocent and you kill the person because of what another person claims without even proving it than it is an act of crime against humanity.
Another statement that I chose says,"Confessing to a crime you didn't commit in to avoid punishment is wise". I don't believe this statement because it's idiotic to confess to a crime I know for a fact I did not commit. Because what if you confess to this crime, most people are going to look down on you and treat you like garbage. Your social reputation will be shattered and your gonna feel miserable for the rest of your life. Just like some of the people in "The Crucible" they lived by confessing to a crime but they were locked up and hated by the people.
This is my favorite statement because it's so true. This statement says,"It is better to die for what you believe in rather to live a lie to save your life". I connect to this statement because I'm Christian and I believe in God. I would rather die on God's side than to turn my back on him live my in a lie. That is John Proctor did at the end of the novel. They wanted him to confess to a crime he did not commit. He almost did it to sold his name and almost turned his back on the Lord. But at the last minute John Proctor ripped the confession paper and died believing in the Lord.
"The Crucible" has many lessons to learn from that can save your life. Although some people don't follow the Lord or follow the lessons that are brought to them. They might live their life how they want to, but there is a day judgement coming, so what will you do?
